Playing widescreen is great as long as you setup the screen resolution for the game right. I play at 1920x1080 and it works well.

i thought the max resolution for this game is 1280x1024???

i tried it also on my TV that is 1920x1080 too but in the setup of the game the max resolution is 1280x1024.
but maybe i did something wrong??

Go into your console and type:

All in order, one at a time.

After the video restart, it should be all set. Then if you go into your video settings, the resolution will show up as "-1", but it'll actually be set to what you wanted it to be.

btw.. will these commands work for other games aswell? like bf2?

Any game on the Quake 3 engine it should work for. It's an integrated command, not a custom one added to the game. Hard-coded in the engine if I'm not mistaken.

Aside from the in-game settings, Battlefield 2 has a large number of config (.con) files spread throughout its directories. These files can be edited using a text editor like Windows Notepad or Wordpad. Before editing any .con file, first make sure you make a backup copy of it.

All of the above settings can be adjusted from within the in-game Video settings. However the highest they can be set to is High from within the game (a value of 3). By setting them each to 4 in Video.con (as shown above), you will have them displayed as 'Videosettings_Ultrahigh' in the in-game Video settings screen, and some people believe this increases the graphics quality to Ultrahigh levels. I didn't see any impact from this change, but if you want the absolute best quality in BF2 give it a try.

Update: As of the 1.3 Patch, you can no longer set Ultra High quality, the highest value which works for these settings is 3, which is also the maximum possible when using the in-game settings.

So it looks like you can set it by using:
VideoSettings.setResolution 1920x1080@60Hz
From within the game. If that doesn't work, then you'll probably have to do it from within the .con file itself.

i tried to write the comand:
videoSettings.setResplution 1360x768 ingame, but i only got some wired error messages again.. but i got help fom a diffrent forum aswell. here is what they:

Rightclick @ bf2 ikonet, "properties", "target". and add this behind the comand that's already there +szx 1360 +szy 768

and it worked..

those numbers are what is max on my screen :p since it's only a HD Ready tv :p
