Internet problem on laptop

My uncle got a wired internet problem on his laptop.. it works great to everything except if you try to watch a movie on youtube or any other movie that you have too buffer before watching... what happens is that in the middle of the buffering the internet connection goes dead, i sm still connected and the signal is still strong but it just dies.. even if you try to open a new window it still won't react.. it goes back to normal after beeing dead for a couple of minutes.

i tried downloading diffrent sizes of files and there is no problem during that it only happens if you try to watch a movie...

anyone got an idea on how to solve this??

My first thought was that you lose your connection while buffering and that it takes some time to recover, but it seems to me impossible with a wired connection (if it was wireless, it could be more likely).
You say something about "opening a new window and it still doesn't react"... what do you mean with that?

What kind of internet connection does your uncle have?
Have you tried with another browser?

oh.. sorry Hannibal i forgot to mention that it is a wireless connection.. and that the signal is strong.. and it still stands as strong when the connection goes dead/inactive..

when the connection goes dead/inactive and i try to click explorerbutton to open a fresh window, then it dosen't happen anything in that window either until the connection wakes up again.. if you know what i mean?

i haven't tried to use a diffrent browser.. i can that a shoot at it today..

what kind of connection he has? i am not sure what you mean by that.. but he has a wired ADSL (it's uses the phonelines) connection in to his house, and from there it goes trough a wireless modem and to his laptop..

i tried to update the driver for his wireless thingy (forgot what it is called in english ) on the laptop.. but it diden't help..

Ok, i thought it would be wireless
With what kind i wanted to know ADSL/cable and which speed.
What kind of wireless network card ('thingy' ) does he have?
What kind of router does your uncle use?

Have you tried with a wired connection to check if it is only with the wireless or also with the wired connection?

his laptop Fijutsu Simens Amilo
his ADSL speed is 1800/256kbps
his wireless card is called Atheros AR5005G Wireless network adapter
his router is a D-link wireless router

and i havent had the time yet to try to use a wire and a diffrent browser..

Ken the movie problems happens with other films you have in PC besides youtube or else?

Cause it could be some codecs problem.

the problem is only when i stream videos.. there are no problem if i down load the movie first.

What anti virus or Firewall you have?

The virus program is AVG Free edition and then there is the windows fire wall

It could be the anti-virus that is blocking the stream videos. The AVG has any tab with permissions?

I doubt its internet connection problem cause you can navigate in internet and make downloads without any problem.

But i will try to get more info.

i did look trough it once, but i will have another look at it

i had another tought about this to, and that is that his wirless connection is a really secure line, there was a guy from the internet delivery company that came and sett up his wireless connection... hehe, maybe he made it to secure?

Wireless is NOT secure
I don't think that it has something to do with the antivirus or firewall, coz if that would block streaming...then you could see nothing (what's not the case).

You really have to check if it is the same with a wired connection. It could be that your wireless is disturbed by something (wired doesn't have that problem). Another option I see is that the configuration of your wireless card or router has some limitation in buffering...
Also try another browser, you never know what someone did with the configuration of the browser. Often the most stupid thing brings the biggest problem.

Yep i have searching in internet and the problem seems to be in router.

Some solved the problem with downgrading the firmware to an older version or earlier one.

Also some changed some parameters in the router.
